Scott G. Kaufman, Queens Surrogate’s Court Attorney
Scott G. Kaufman is the principal of Crowley & Kaufman, P.C. His practice focuses primarily on Queens County Surrogate’s Court matters. These matters include estate litigation, estate administration and will contests. Scott G. Kaufman also handles all matters relating to Guardianships pursuant to Article 81 of the Mental Hygiene Law. Scott has become a well known and well respected practitioner in both Surrogate’s Court Practice and Guardianship.
Scott G. Kaufman is a former Assistant District Attorney in Queens County. Scott has also served as a Court Attorney in the Law Department of the Surrogates Court of Queens County. Since being in private practice, Scott has focused his practice as a Queens Surrogate’s Court Attorney. As a Surrogate’s Court Attorney, Scott has extensive experience in estate administration, estate litigation, will contests, contested accountings and the removal of the fiduciary for negligent administration. Scott G. Kaufman has been appointed by the Surrogate to serve as Guardian ad Litem on hundreds of matters, including will contests and sophisticated accountings. Scott has also been appointed to serve as the counsel to the Public Administrator of Queens County. Mr. Kaufman currently serves as the Vice Chairman of the Queens County Bar Association’s Committee on Surrogates Court Practice. He lectures as part of the Bar Association sponsored Continuing Legal Education Seminars in the areas of Surrogates Court Practice and Guardianship. As a Queens Surrogate’s Court Attorney, Scott has also been published in the Queens County Bar Bulletin on Queens Surrogate’s Court Practice.
Scott G. Kaufman has represented petitioners in Article 81 Guardianship proceedings and his experience in this area is extensive. He is a former Court Examiner assigned to review the annual accountings of Guardians in the 1st Judicial Department, having been appointed by the presiding Justice of the 1st Department, Alfred J. Lerner. Mr. Kaufman has been appointed and has served as Court Evaluator and counsel for the alleged incapacitated person on dozens of matters.
Scott G. Kaufman is a graduate of Queens College and received his Juris Doctor from City University of New York Law School at Queens College.
