Our office has extensive experience in the area of Surrogate's Court Practice. Our staff is specially trained to manage the difficulties an Executor, Administrator or Trustee may encounter. Our experience and expertise includes probating wills, filing administration proceedings and settling estates informally or through a formal judicial accounting proceeding. We particularly focus on Queens County, however, we are experienced in all downstate counties.

Guardianship
When an elderly or disabled individual is incapacitated and has not planned for that incapacity, a guardianship proceeding may be necessary. A Guardian can help with managing the finances of the Incapacitated Person and make decisions regarding the personal needs.
We have extensive experience in guardianship proceedings pursuant to Article 81 of the Mental Hygiene Law. Our office has represented petitioners and respondents in these proceedings. Mr. Kaufman has handled dozens of guardianship matters. He has particular expertise when these matters are contested and litigation arises. Scott Kaufman has served as a Guardian, Counsel to the Incapacitated Person, Court Evaluator and Court Examiner. He is well known in this field and is familiar to the Court and their personnel. Mr. Kaufman has lectured as a panelist at Bar sponsored Continuing Legal Education Seminars in the area of Guardianship.
